Photographs for Purchase, Exhibition and Enjoyment
The Cary Elementary School Project
The Cary Elementary School was purchased by the Town of Cary from the Wake County Board of Education. The goal is use the Cary Elementary School as the Town's consolidated Arts Center. Asbestos removal, demolition, remodeling, repurposing and additions to the original structure are to take place from September 2009 until May 2011 when the project is scheduled to be completed. I was selected as one of three photographers to document the transition from an abandoned school to the new Arts Center. I anticipate four photographic phases. The initial state, demolition, construction and opening. My version of theinitial state photographs have been completed and they can be seen at the link below. I will update the web sites as we progress through the project. I normally do not share "work in progress" because I don't like to show partially realized projects or photographs. But this project is going to be much bigger than anything I have yet started, both in terms of the number of photographs created and the impact of this project on our community. Think of them as the first course of a great artistic feast for the people of Cary. |
